A multi-day walking journey through ancient villages, centuries-old forests and breathtaking coastal landscapes, following in the footsteps of Saint Nilus, the Italo-Greek monk whose legacy is deeply rooted in Cilento.
Eight stages, around 110 km and a journey into the authentic heart of Cilento, where unspoilt nature, timeless villages and places of profound spirituality come together.
The Cammino di San Nilo follows in the footsteps of the Italo-Greek monk who, more than a thousand years ago, chose these lands as a place of silence, contemplation and prayer. Today, his path has become a walking experience to be savoured at a slower pace, one step at a time

From the seaside town of Sapri to the spectacular coastline of Palinuro, the trail winds through the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, crossing olive groves, ancient woodlands, crystal-clear streams, historic mule tracks and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Gulf of Policastro.

Along the way, walkers discover welcoming hilltop villages where hospitality remains warm and genuine, rock-hewn hermitages, medieval castles, ancient stone bridges and remarkable natural landmarks such as the Hair of Venus Oasis and the Bussento Caves. Higher up, the imposing Mount Cervati massif and the plateau of San Nazario reveal the deep connection between this landscape and the story of Saint Nilus.
The Cammino di San Nilo offers a different way to experience Cilento: by slowing down, embracing nature, and walking in harmony with the timeless rhythm of the land.
